Acting Mayor Kim Janey releases part of a 1999 Boston Police Department internal affairs investigation of child abuse charges against officer Patrick Rose Sr.
April 20, 2021
The report found it likely that Rose had abused a 12-year-old child in 1995, but was allowed to return to duty and subsequently elected president of the Boston Police Patrolman’s Association. Five similar charges are lodged against Rose before his retirement in 2018. Maintaining that the charges against Rose were widely known within the department, Suffolk County district attorney Rachael Rollins declares, “I work with police all the time – they gossip more than middle schoolers, OK, so I will put good money on the fact that every one of them knew . . .”
